Finding the balance between taking care of yourself while taking action can be a challenge, which is why we’re so grateful to this week’s guest curator for sharing her top tools with us.

Shaniqua McClendon is the Political Director for Crooked Media, home to the popular podcast, Pod Save America. Shaniqua is Womazing: she created and implemented Crooked Media’s voter engagement program, Vote Save America, which has engaged voters around the country in electoral politics. Shaniqua, who is a Harvard Kennedy School of Government grad, has also worked at Facebook as a part of their Politics and Government Outreach Team.

Through her passion and dedication of using policy to create economic parity and eliminate disparities for disadvantaged communities, Shaniqua has made an extraordinary impact. In addition to being focused on advancing political and civic engagement, Shaniqua also spends a great deal of time working with women interested in developing careers in policy and politics (#WomenSupportingWomen).

When your life’s work is making sure that our outer world is taken care of, it’s so important to prioritize taking care of your internal world. In her channel, Shaniqua shares her top tools for self-care as an activist.

Here’s a glimpse of what you’ll find:

  1. Life-changing advice from Oprah Winfrey

  2. How to trust your struggle

  3. Shaniqua’s powerful personal story on being raised by a single mother

  4. How to take care of yourself during tough times

  5. Change-makers on how they deal with activism fatigue
